Werenwag is perched high above the Donau (English: Danube) River. In the area west of Sigmaringen, the Donau River is lined with steep rock cliffs, and a number of ruins line these cliffs. Most of the castles along the river are in poor condition and some virtually impossible to find without spending a full day looking. Werenwag is clearly visible and has a fantastic view of the river valley below. These photos were taken in 2007.
Having already squandered close to a full day searching for several castles in the area, I decided not to search for the route to this castle since the day was growing short.
