Following are several views of the main palas, or living area, of the newer section of the castle. Some reconstruction and restoration has occured, but by and large the ruins seen here are authentic.
Right, note the uneven layout of the windows.
Two views within the palas from opposite directions. The grass covered area is a significant debris field that has probably yet to be excavated and sifted.
Right, in the center of the palas area is the remains of a spiral stairway used to access the multi levels of the structure. The steps are reconstructions but the rest is authentic.
Left, three views of varied entrances in the castle. The first two are an entrance into the shield wall, the middle photo being a shot though the bars into the interior. The interior has received some significant reconstruction to keep it from collapsing.
The third photo shows a passageway between the palas and courtyard area toward the outer walls. The passage has been built directly into the living rock.
Right, a view of the entrance way into the shield wall that takes one to the top of the wall. Within is a rebuilt spiral stairway that is partially visible.
