This is one of the restored towers that helped to guard access to the main castle.

Left, a view of the main entrance as seen from above. Note the battlements on the top. The section of wall the goes into the woods at the top of the photo zigzags along the south side until it ties in to the wall that would stretch down to the town of Landstuhl.

As you reach the top of the castle you can see the restored ruins of the battlements that formed the last bastion of defense.
The same tower above is now seen, at right, from a superior elevation. The wooden platform leading into the tower is definately a recent reconstruction.
This view shows the interior of the cannon tower. Also visible is the remains of the spiral stairway that accessed upper levels of the tower. To the left can be seen the platforms used for a local entertainment troupe who perform musicals and plays on an ongoing basis.
