Lichtenstein
The view at the right, from the town of Honau in early 1978, shows how the keep rests on a rock outcrop.  The photo below, also taken in 1978, shows the castle as seen from the north.  This view is virtually impossible to get in the summer due to vegetation blocking the view.
Right, the view north up the Echaz valley towards Pfullingen and Reutlingen is spectacular.  However, any mist in the atmosphere tends to spoil the view, and in Germany it is hard to get a good, clear day for such a view.  The Achalm near Reutlingen is visible in the distance.

Below, a spectacular view of Lichtenstein from the winding road that takes one out of the Echaz valley, taken in 2007.  Many years ago there used to be a small cafe in the castle, being located along the lower floor on the right side.  Today the area houses museum artifacts.
In the photos at right, a special armaments turret where a number of different types of cannon are stored.  The inset is the same collection in early 1978.
The castle as seen from the south (below) in 2007, and one from Honau also in 2007 (right).
