The view from the battlements of Hohenzollern is fantastic, with a virtual 360 degree panorama only restricted by one's place on the walls. The beauty of the Schwabishe Alb can truly be appreciated from here.
A walk around the battlements provides an excellent view of the castle itself, both the architecture and various display pieces, such as the statues of the Kings of Prussia (lower right). On the left is King Frederick the Great.
An interesting aspect of many castles in western Germany today is that they are illuminated at night. As a consequence, Hohenzollern has a number of spot light fixtures along the outer wall. Certainly not part of the medievel decor!
The photo below is that of one of the chapels. This chapel at one time held the graves of several Prussia kings.
